While much of the technology and function of hearing aids and Personal Sound Amplifier Products (PSAP's) may be similar, our goal here is to provide amplifiers for recreational, social, and business use which are the best ear level electronics in the marketplace. These instruments are Pre-Programmed to fit 3 seperate and specific type of hearing configurations when comparing to a completed hearing exam. Not All PSAP's Are Created Equal
Our PSAP products are simple to use, comfortable, inconspicuous and easy to wear and maintain. Most importantly, the proper fitting and combined features are selected by professionals with many years fitting traditional hearing aids. And.. be sure to compare the features of the instruments you are considering to purchase. i.e.... our PSAP's all have Directional Microphones, many don't. From simply looking at the instruments you could not tell a PSAP apart from a hearing aid, but are designed for a better listening experience for those who need help in competing noise environments. Our PSAP's turn ordinary hearing into extraordinary hearing and will benefit most people in need of hearing assistance. The PSAP allows you to hear normal sounds with more clarity.
The PSAP's use a tube and an ear dome to allow sound to travel from the unit into the ear canal. It is not to be confused with the Open Fit RIC technology since it does not use a receiver in the ear canal. The unit sits behind the pinna (ear) with the tube coming down the front into the ear dome which sits inside of the ear canal. The PSAP is discreet and comfortable and the unit comes in beige or silver colors to match hair or skin tones.

PSAPs are intended to amplify environmental sound for non-hearing impaired consumers. They are not intended to compensate for hearing impairment. Examples of situations in which PSAPs typically are used include hunting (listening for prey), bird watching, listening to lectures with a distant speaker, and listening to soft sounds that would be difficult to hear (e.g., distant conversations, performances).
Because PSAPs are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or mitigate disease and do not alter the structure or function of the body, they are not devices as defined in the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. As such, there is no regulatory classification, product code, or definition for these products.
What this means is that the FDA does not recognize it as a "hearing aid" and therefore does not require the purchaser to have a hearing test prior to purchase. These instruments can be purchased just as any other electronic device available at a retial store.
